Fall

Well fall is definately approaching in this part of Bulgaria. The weather is getting a bit cooler and school has started, which means that I have a real job again for the first time in over 6 months... Just kidding! Anyway I wanted to go out and take some photos of the park across from my apartment and show what it looks like as the leaves begin to change.

Gotse Delchev

Well you have probably noticed by now that I like to take pictures of mountains, rivers and other naturey stuff. I am going to try to take more pictures of the buildings and people around me. Here are 4, although the third is really of the mountain, but hey you can see some building so that has to count for something....

Tobacco

As you may or may not one of the national pastimes of Bulgaria is smoking, just about eveyone smokes. Part of this is no doubt because of the extremely low price of cigareets in the country. About 1 lev and 50 stotinki I believe, although I am unsure because I am not a smoker. Allot, if not all, of the tobacco for these cigarettes is grown in Bulgaria. These two pictures show tobacco leaves being dried, atleast that's what I think they are suppose to do. These structures are in just about every town, village, and city I have ever seen in Bulgaria.

First Day of School

Today was the first day of school. These are some pictures that I took. The first one is of our director, principal, addressing all of the teachers. The others are of a ceremony that took place later in the day. All of the students line up in their classes and several flags are brought out, the Bulgarian flag and the school flag. Everyone was then suppose to stand at attention and sign the national anthem. Apparently this ceremony is a left over from communist times, and the whole thing was very interesting but also somewhat surreal to me. Actual classes don't start until next week monday.

Mesta

The picture of the church is in the village of Mesta about 30 mins north of my town. The other pictures are more random mountain pictures.
